What Happens If My CBT Expires During Lockdown?

Unfortunately it means that you will not be allowed to continue riding your motorcycle/scooter until Lockdown measures have been lifted by the Government, and you can renew your CBT.

This rule applies to EVERYONE, and no exceptions have been made, meaning that it also applies for:

• Key workers
• Essential Workers
• Delivery Riders
• Couriers

The only possible exception is for:

1. Those people who held a Full UK Driving Licence at the time they took their last CBT, or this holder
   OR
2. People who have taken and passed their Full Uk Driving test and acquired a Full UK Driving Licence during the validity period of their CBT

If you fall into one of these two categories mentioned above, then you can continue to ride a 50CC "moped" ONLY using the AM category on your Full UK Driving Licence in conjunction with the restriction code 122 (mentioned on the back of your licence)

If you, do not fall into any of the two categories mentioned above, then you MUST NOT CONTINUE TO RIDE ANY POWERED MOTORCYCLE OR SCOOTER

What Happens If My Theory Test Expires During Lockdown?

As with CBT, if your theory test is due to expire during the Lockdown period, then you will unfortunately need to re-take this again once Theory Test centres re-open after Lockdown measures have been lifted by the Government.

Again, we know this is not the answer that any people with theory tests approaching their expiry date were looking to hear, but that unfortunately is what the Government, DFT (Department for Transport) and the DVSA have stipulated the law to be.

What Happens If My Module 1 Certificate Expires During Lockdown?

Unfortunately this means you will have to re-take the Module 1 test again. No as with CBT and theory tests, no dispensation or extension has been granted due to the Covid 19 coronavirus pandemic which has caused so many tests to be cancelled or postponed.

As in many cases (except those upgrading an existing motorcycle licence via the progressive access route), your Module 1 Certificate is linked to your theory test expiry date, meaning that you will probably also need to re-take your theory test as well.

Just as a reminder for those of you who are following the progressive access route, even though your Module 1 Certificate is not linked to a theory test expiry date, the Module 1 Pass Certificate is only valid for 6 months from the date of completion.
